Abstract

The brush edge is spring-loaded into the mouthpiece and is mounted (4) so as to pivot and/or slide on a lever (5). An eccentric (3), fixed to a spindle (2) acts against this lever to extend and retract the edge. Also on the spindle are a spring-loaded actuating lever and a ratchet wheel. When the lever, pressed downwards by hand or foot, swings upwards under spring action it also drives the wheel, which is fixed to the spindle, and thus alters the position of the eccentric. The latter can be so shaped as to assume thre different positions in relation to the component carrying the brush edge.
