Abstract

The cleaning device for the side guides or load carriers (5) of an escalator or moving staircase, uses a leaf spring (1) with a stack of leaves (3) of different length clamped together in order of length. The longest leaf has a tip (4) bent over at right angles, forming a scraper surface which is held resiliently in contact with the moving surface. The whole is supported in a upright position by a member (7) on the axis of the traction chain (9). The upper tip (6) of the leaf can be similarly bent over at an angle to form a scraper.
