Abstract

864,218. Floor polishers. GIAMBERTONI, A. July 22, 1959 [July 22, 1958], No. 25169/59. Class 138(1). An electrically operated floor polisher is provided with wheels 18, 19 movable relative to the brushes 9 so that the machine may rest on the wheels with the brushes clear of the the floor when not in use. In the machine shown in Fig. 3, the wheels 18, 19 are raised or lowered on actuation of a lever 21 by the handle 20, this lever 21 being pivoted at a fixed point 5 on the frame and to a link 22 which in turn is pivoted at its lower end to the ends of four levers 7 each of which carries a wheel and is pivoted about a fixed point 6 on the frame. The link 22 carries a compression spring 2 tending to push it downwards and thereby to raise the wheels 18, 19 from the floor. A lever 17 pivoted to the frame and provided with a pedal 26 may be actuated to engage the lever 21 so as to retain it in its uppermost position irrespective of the position of the handle 20 so that the machine may be moved without the brushes 9 contacting the floor.
