Abstract
756,781. Switchgear structures. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. April 29, 1955 [April 30, 1954], No. 12597/54. Class 38(5) In switchgear apparatus comprising a fixed contact carrying unit and a movable contact carrying unit 10, the latter carries a footoperated lever 19 which serves, when operated to urge the units apart. thereby facilitating the initial separation of the contacts. The unit 10 may comprise a wheeled truck carrying an L-shaped lever 19 pivotally mounted on the axle of the pair of wheels 11 most remote from the contacts. Lever arm 19b forms a foot pedal which is raised in the closed position, when lever arm 19a engages a stop 20 on the fixed unit. The closed position is determined by a buffer arrangement (Fig. 1, not shown), or by a stop 23 on unit 10. To withdraw unit 10, handles provided thereon are pulled and the action is assisted by depression of the pedal 19b. When arm 19a is clear of stop 20, pedal 19b rests on stop 22 carried by unit 10.
