Abstract

837,628. Press-button retractive switches KING Ltd., G. W. March 18, 1958 [March 22 1957], No. 9470/57. Class 38 (5). A reversible controller for a motor comprises two switch units each of which has a pushbutton 19 which acts through a link 24 on a lever 25 pivoted at 26. The free end of lever 25 is connected to a telescopic pin and spring link 28, 31 connected to a lever 30 pivoted to a lug 32. A further lever 33 pivoted to 30 at B is connected to a carriage 16 carrying two pairs of bridging contacts 15 which co-operate with two pairs of fixed contacts 11, 12. The carriage 16 is slidable on rods 17 which are inclined to the plane of contacts 11, 12 so that the contacts 15 slide thereon when making and breaking. Depression of a button moves the linkage 25, 28, 31, 30 over centre and thus tends to straighten the toggle 30, 33, but point B does not pass the line joining points A, C, so that the spring 31 restores the parts when the button is released. Operation of one switch unit whilst the other push-button is depressed is prevented by a lever 34 which is moved by either push-button to block movement of the other push-button and of the other contact carriage.
