Abstract

The valve body (1) has an internal thread (32) and a joint ring (3) for forming a seal with the vacuum chamber. The outlet (5) is formed to make a joint with the vacuum pump. The knob (20) screws onto the threaded boss (10) of the body (1). A central shaft (21) has an upper O-ring (23) in a groove (22) which seals the central hole (11). A lower O-ring (26) seals the vacuum chamber when the valve is closed. Rotating the knob (20) lifts the O-ring (26) off its seat and connects the chamber to the pump. The large headed screw (30) prevents the shaft (21) from being screwed out of the valve body.
