Abstract

When a circuit-breaker has the arc extinguishing system built into the mobile contacts, such as a piston operating inside a cylinder, it can be an important factor in the inertia of the mobile contact and lead to the reducing of the efficiency of the control. This circuit-breaker, whose insulating parts would be designed to properly isolate the high-voltage units, has a rotary contact arm. This pivots between two fixed contact arrangements. At one end is a moving system for the rotary arm, mounted between insulating walls. Suitably pivoted in that arrangement is the auto-pneumatic arc extinguishing bellows system. The movement of the mobile contact when interrupting a circuit initiates the air blast.
