Abstract

The top is used with an inner, sealing stopper. The inner skirt has at least three gaps at the points where radial arms extend from the top of the cap to the external skirt. The radial arms are outlined on the top by lines of perforations along which tearing takes place. The inner skirt has an internal protrusion which fits tightly against the neck of the bottle. The external skirt has a lip round its lowest edge to assist in prising off the cap. When the cap is prised off, tearing along the edge of two radial arms leaves a segment of the top completely free to fall off. Printing a motif on the top gives added indication of the top having been damaged in the event of partial tearing.
