Abstract

One-piece plastic moulded bottle top, comprising a top section with a knurled or grooved edge and an inner skirt to be pushed inside the neck of the bottle. An external skirt descends from beneath the edge of the top and is connected by a weak line along which it can be torn off. The tear-off skirt has an internal wedge section which engages under a tip formed in the neck of the bottle. There is a flap extended downwards and an inclined line of weakness to start the tearing action. After removal of the skirt there is a chamfer on the inside of the remaining vertical portion of the top section to facilitate replacement of the stopper.
