Abstract

1,073,225. Container closures. PERMUTA CLOSURES Ltd. June 19, 1964 [June 21, 1963], No. 24780/63. Heading B8T. A bottle stopper moulded from resilient plastics material comprises a tubular plug 1 surrounded by a thin-walled skirt 6 depending from a knurled head 4 and closely fitting the bottle neck. To allow the removal of the skirt from the head and hence the removal of the stopper from the bottle, a tear strip is formed by two grooves 11, 12 and a tear tab 15. At spaced points around each groove strengthening ribs are provided which project upwardly from the groove base and bridge the walls thereof. Reinforcing ribs 2 and 21 are located on the plug and skirt respectively, a projection 16 on the tab enables it to be more easily gripped. The stopper is applied by a capping head 10 which contacts the head before its lower part engages the rib 21.
