Abstract

1,128,815. Caps for containers. METAL CLOSURES (PLASTICS) Ltd. and H. J. FOXTON. 17 June, 1966 [24 June, 1965], No. 26876/65. Heading B8T. A tamper-proof stopper comprises a cap 13 joined to a retaining ring 14 by a frangible membrane. The cap 13 is provided with a pull-tab 17, and immediately below this tab a gap is provided in the membrane to facilitate the initiation of the tearing action. A thickened portion 18 of the membrane diametrically opposite to the tab 17 acts as a hinge, retaining the cap 13 in contact with the retaining ring 14 after tearing of the membrane. The cap 13 also carries an internal tubular sealing skirt 16. Annular flanges 19, 22 on the inner walls of the cap 13 and ring 14 respectively engage corresponding projections 20, 23 on a bottle neck 12 to which the stopper is applied. The entire stopper may be moulded integrally from plastics material.
