Abstract

1402054 Tamper proof closure assembly ANGELO GUALA DI PIERGIACOMO E ROBERTO GUALA & C SAS 3 July 1973 [29 July 1972] 31671/73 Heading B8T A closure arrangement with a tamper proof seal, for bottles having two spaced, external, annular rings on the neck, the lower one of which is provided with teeth, comprises a pourer body 5 having an outer annular toothed ring 15 snap fitted over one of the annular rings on the neck of the bottle, a cap 21 cooperating with screw threads 13, 23 to the pourer body and having a toothed annular band 26 connected to its lower end by frangible stalks 27, and a sleeve 17 having an outer annular toothed portion 20 and an inner annular toothed ring 18. The closure is applied by engaging the cap 21 and the pourer body 5 by means of the thread 13, 23, this sub-assembly being push fitted to the sleeve 17 thus engaging the toothed annular portion 20 and ring 26 as well as the rings 15 and 18. The whole assembly is snap fitted to the bottle, thus engaging the toothed annular rings 3 and 18 so that, on unscrewing the cap, no relative angular movement is possible between any component without breaking the frangible stalks 27. The closure may comprise a screen 8 supported by radial fins 9 in the pourer body, thereby serving to moderate the flow of a liquid contained in the bottle when poured out, and a lip 11 on the pourer body which prevents drips. A further embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown), the band (26) is provided with a circumferential weakened breakage line and a tab (28) for gripping and pulling one end of the weakened portion to break the seal. Another embodiment, Fig. 6 (not shown), provides the band (26<SP>1</SP>) of the cap (21<SP>1</SP>) with external teeth engaging inside the terminal annular portion (20<SP>1</SP>).
