Abstract

1406911 Pouring stoppers E COCCHI 8 Jan 1973 [8 Jan 1972] 953/73 Heading B8T A bottle 10 and stoppers 20 are provided in combination, the bottle having an outlet passage with a first portion adjacent the mouth of smaller internal diameter than a second portion further from said mouth, an abutment surface being provided between the two portions; the stopper having a body portion from which project a plurality of planar members 30 which enter said outlet passage when the stopper is applied to the bottle, the members 30 having projections 34 arranged on a circle having a diameter greater than that of said first portion of the bottle neck, the arrangement being such that when the stopper is pulled outwardly of the bottle neck, the projections 34 engage said abutment surface in the neck to limit said outward movement, and liquid leaves the bottle via the passages between the members 30. The stopper includes a cap member 24 having a depending skirt 26 engaging the external surface of the bottle neck. The skirt 26 may constitute a tamperproof band with a line of weakness 28; or a tamperproof paper band may be stuck over the skirt. The internal surface of the bottle neck may be provided by a suitably shaped insert. In a preferred embodiment, the members 30 extend from the cap member 24; in an alternative embodiment, the members 30 project from a tubular member depending from the cap 24.
