Abstract

The cap has a tear-off safety strip, round the lower edge, which must be removed before the aerosol is first used. The tear-off strip (13) has a rim (14) which engages in a groove (9) on the container. The strip is torn off along a line of weakness (18) using a tab (15). This leaves a second rim (16) round the inside edge of the cap to be used when replacing the cap. A variation uses an inner tubular piece, fixed to the base (11) of the cap, extending down over the valve. This piece has a rim which engages under the neck (4) of the aerosol after the outer safety ring (13) has been removed.
