Abstract

A safety cap for aerosol spray containers, designed to prevent removal by small children, has a cover (8) with an outer, cylindrical skirt (9) attached to it. An inner cylindrical sleeve (10) hanging down from the cover has an inward-directed rim (12) on its free end. This rin locates under a circular collar (6, 7) on the aerosol container. Ribs (11) between the inner and outer sleeves transmit forces. The inner sleeve is slit in at least one place to permit the deformation necessary to remove the cap. The force necessary is greater than could be applied by a small child. The outer skirt can have a peripheral protrusion (13) to assist removal of the cap by a suitable tool.
