Abstract

1,270,453. Caps for bottles. L. S. TURNER. 9 June, 1969 [19 June, 1968], No. 29067/69. Heading B8T. A closure for a container with a circular mouth and an enlarged external lip (28), Fig. 2 (not shown), comprises a flexible cap 22 and an outer ring 23. The cap 22 has an inwardly extending lip (29) which resiliently engages the lip (28) and the outer ring 23 holds the cap 22 in constriction around the lip (28). The cap 22 and the ring 23 have complementary parts for permitting relative rotation which comprise a circumferential groove 25 formed in either the cap or the ring and a key 24 extending radially from the other member into the circumferential groove. A keyway 26 extends axially either upwards or downwards from the groove 25 to permit at least a part of the outer ring 23 to be moved axially when the key is aligned, so releasing the constriction on the cap shirt and allowing the cap to be removed. When the keyway 26 extends downwardly from the groove 25, Figs. 5-13 (not shown), both the cap 22 and the ring 23 are removed together and do not separate.
