Abstract
The substrate is composed of steel containing 0.4-5% Mn, pref. 1-5% Mn and a carbide stabilizer 0.02-1% pref. 0.02-0.15%, 0.02-0.1% C, pref. 0.02-0.05% C, balance Fe and usual impurities such as Al. The steel is given a Cr diffusion coating by first weeting the surface with an adhesive contg. a binder, depositing a layer of Cr-rich substance in powder form, and heating at over 750 degrees C.
