Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the wear proof and reduce the cost of exterior parts of the watch by applying the Ni.P plating having a specific thickness and containing a specific amount of P on the surface of a material and, subsequently, applying at least one of a metal nitride or a metal carbide layer thereon. CONSTITUTION:The exterior parts for the watch is obtained by applying a nickel. phosphorus plating with a thickness of 50-100mu containing 1-15% of P on a surface of the material such as an austenite type stainless steel and, subsequently, applying at least one of a metal nitride, a metal carbide, a metal oxide, a metal boride or a metal silicide with a thickness of 0.5-2mu. This parts are excellent in corrosion resistance and wear proof compared to that of a conventional product as well as the coat is inexpensive.
