Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a hard exterior part for time piece, having a high wear resistance, a high corrosion resistance, and a high scratching resistance, by forming one or more golden nitride layers of a specific thickness and a specific hardness on the surface of a time piece case composed of an Ni-based alloy with Cr and Al, having a given hardness. CONSTITUTION:A time piece case is manufactured from a Ni-based alloy containing 10-50wt% Cr and 1.0-6wt% Al and having a micro-Vickers hardness of 300- 900Hv. Then, on the time piece case, at least one of golden nitride layers of TiN, TaN, ZrN, HfN, etc., is formed by an ion plating method, for example, to obtain a hard exterior part for a time piece. The thickness of the nitride layers should be 0.1-20mum and the hardness should be 900-2,500Hv. Thus, a wear-resistance, scratch-proof, crack-proof even when fallen, and good lustrous exterior part for time piece can be obtained.
