Abstract

1,149,163. Making fuel gas. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 15 March, 1967 [22 March, 1966], No. 12572/66. Heading C5E. [Also in Divisions B1 and C7] Corrosion of furnaces or furnace tubes of an alloy containing Fe, Ni and/or Co, and at least 15% Cr used in a carburizing environment, e.g. in catalytic steam reforming of hydrocarbons, is prevented by coating with e.g. enamel or Al, Cr or Ni. The coating may be applied by spraying, painting, electrodeposition, deposition from the gas phase, cladding or aluminizing or chromizing by heating with an inert refractory material and ammonium chloride.
