Abstract

1439628 Coating with metals by evaporation: alloys GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 24 Oct 1973 [24 Oct 1972] 49552/73 Headings C7A and C7F Substrates of e.g. Ni or Co are coated by vapour deposition with e.g. Fe, Ni or Co or alloys thereof containing Al or Cr by giving the surface of the substrate a finish, e.g. by using an abrasive slurry, such that it is no greater than 100 r.m.s. (microinches), rotating the substrate whilst scanning with an electron beam to heat it to 1550 to 2050‹F, and continuing the heating whilst coating. The substrate alloys may be (by weight per cent):- 0À17C, 14 Cr, 5Ti, 0À015B, 3Al, 4W, 4Mo, Balance Ni, 9À5Co, 0À05Zr, balance Nt or 0À07C, 15Cr, 3À3Ti, 0À016B, 4À3Al, 15Co, 4À2Mo balance Na, and the coating may be 25Cr, 12A, lYt balance Fe.
