Abstract

Metallic substrate is coated with niobium for producing super conductors using an Nb-containing melt flow electrolyte. The Nb is precipitated from the vapour phase of the electrolyte. Specifically the metal substrate is the cathode in an evacuated, protective gas-filled coating chamber and is moved through a zone enriched with electrolyte vapour over the surface of the molten electrolyte in the chamber which is connected to the anode.
