Abstract

1,273,654. Electrode materials. ENGELHARD MINERALS & CHEMICALS CORP. 6 July, 1970 [7 July, 1969], No. 32746/70. Heading H1D. [Also in Division C7] A grid wire comprises a W, Mo and/or Ta or alloy thereof wire coated with 5 to 20 microinches Au then with Os. The wire is made by electroplating a flash coating of Au 5-20 microinches thick on to the wire, heating the wire to 800-1000‹ C. in H 2 , electroplating a layer of Os 10-150 microinches thick and heating in vacuum at 600-1200‹ C. The wire may be first formed into a grid and then coated.
