In a hot-dipping process of the kind described in Specification 1,203,460, the A.C. heating current which is passed through elongate metal substrate 1 before it enters conductive coating melt 3 is passed between a contact 15 abutting on moving substrate 1 and the surface 6 of coating melt 3.
