1,237,607. Coating elongated substrates. SCHLADITZ-WHISKERS A.G. Jan. 31, 1969 [Feb. 2, 1968], No.5491/69. Heading C7F. In a process for the continuous metallisation of travelling elongated non-metallic material, the said material is heated in a pretreatment chamber by means of a heating gas to a temperature above the decomposition temperature of the metallic carbonyl used to supply the coating metal, and is conveyed through a constricted passage disposed between said pretreatment chamber and a metallisation chamber, wherein carbonyl gas flows at such a velocity in the same direction as the substrate material that their relative velocity is zero or reduced to a minimum. The substrate may be glass or plastics and the coating metal Ni.
