Abstract

1,181,500. Continuous degassing apparatus. AEG-ELOTHERM G.m.b.H. Nov.19, 1968 [Feb.15, 1968], No.54896/68. Heading C7D. Apparatus for continuously degassing molten metal comprises a crucible 1, a vacuum chamber 12 and a transfer passage 6 therebetween, the vacuum chamber being an electromagnetic conveyer trough 7 with a lip 8 connected to a pouring spout 9. An inductor 13, e.g. a three phase inductor, is attached to the floorplate 14 of the trough 7 to raise molten metal over the lip 8. Crucible 1 may be replaced by a feedhead 16 and downgate 17 leading to the transfer passage and the downgate may be surrounded by a heating inductor 18.
