Abstract

The invention relates to a process for the activating of gene-technologically produced, heterologous, disulphide bridge-containing eukaryotic proteins after expression in prokaryotes by crushing the cells and solubilizing proteins under denaturing and reducing conditions; said products are activated under oxidizing conditions in the presence of compounds GSH and GSSG, wherein during the activation stage of the process the pH is 9 to 12, GSH is at a concentration of 0.1 to 20 mmol/l, GSSG is at a concentration of 0.01 to 3 mmol/l and a denaturing agent present is at a non-denaturing concentration. The process is particularly valuable for t-Pa protein and beta interferon.
