SE FUNDAMENTA EN LA REACCION DEL TERMINAL GALACTOSA-(BETA 1- 3 O BETA 1 - 4)-N-ACETIL-GLUCOSAMINA DE LA UNION GLICO ASOCIADA AL TUMOR CON LA LECTINA PARA FORMAR UN COMPLEJO LECTINICO. POSTERIORMENTE, MEDIANTE LA MEDICION DE LA CANTIDAD DEL COMPLEJO O DE LA LECTINA NO REACCIONADA, SE DETERMINA EL NIVEL DE EXISTENCIA DE LA SUSTANCIA DESEADA EN EL FLUIDO CORPORAL. PARA MEJORAR LA DETECTABILIDAD DE LA LECTINA SE EMPLEA EN EL FLUIDO CORPORAL. PARA MEJORAR LA DETECTABILIDAD DE LA LECTINA SE EMPLEA UNA ENZIMA, UNA SUSTANCIA FLUORESCENTE O UNA SUSTANCIA RADIACTIVA. ESTE METODO ES DE EMPLEO EN LA DIAGNOSIS DE LOS TUMORES CANCEROSOS.
