Abstract

Un método de preparación de un substrato metálico recubierto, resistente a los productos químicos y a la corrosión, cuyo método consiste en: (1) establecer sobre la superficie de dicho substrato un aparejo que contiene alrededor de 50 a 50000 miligramos por pie2 de substrato recubierto (538 a 53.820 mg/m2) de un metal pulverulento en mezcla íntima con una composición de recubrimiento que contiene cromo hexavalente, esencialmente exenta de resina. (2) secar el substrato aparejado resultante a una temperatura y durante un periodo de tiempo suficiente para vaporizar los componentes volátiles de dicha composición de recubrimiento pero insuficiente para formar un aparejo resistente al agua con orientación sustancial del cromo hexavalente hacia la reducción; (3) aplicar sobre el aparejo seco una composición de recubrimiento de acabado que comprende una resina hidroxílica, un pigmento en partículas eléctricamente conductor y un aducto de isocianato y (4) calentar el artículo recubierto resultantea una temperatura superior a 350ºF (177ºC) y durante un periodo de tiempo suficiente.
