Abstract

The coating for paper, pasteboard, plastics, wood, metals is applied with a varnish creating a physical-chemical bond through its OH gps. which bond to reactive gps. on the substrate during drying. The coating contains isocyanates 0.5-2%) with a resin (5-20%) contg. OH gp. (nitrocellulose) forming a hard surface film and an acrylic resin (10-25%) forming an inter. film which bonds during cure to the support. OH index is controlled by adding a non-reactive resin (0-15%) e.g. polyvinyl acetate to develop flexibility. Solvent is 40-80%. The coating does not need separate adhesive treatment and gives excellent resistance to abrasion and folding.
