Abstract

A cathode-ray tube provided with a cupshaped end member 1 sealed to a conical member 12, Fig. 1 (not shown), is provided with a flat fluorescent screen 9, e.g. for colour television, which is supported by means of a wire 5 located in grooves 4 formed in lugs 3 provided on the cup-shaped member. There may be eight lugs 3 (i.e. two on each side of a rectangular screen) and the grooves 4 are cut parallel to the plane of the seal to the conical member (not shown). A rectangular metal frame 6 is inserted first, followed by the screen 9 and the wire 5. L-shaped tabs (8, Fig. 4, not shown), secured to the frame 6 have one arm interposed between the frame 6 and the screen 9, and the other arm depending inside the wire 5 this arm is provided with an oblique cut 12 (Fig. 4b), so that its end may be twisted to form a tight assembly. A lead-in wire 14 (Fig. 2, not shown), may be secured to the wire 5.
