Abstract

A device for supplying air to an operating theatre comprises a row of perforated screens 3 receiving air from a supply 1 via a distributing duct 2, each screen being slidable up or down to form an unobstructed outlet slot above or below the screen. If the slot is at the top of the device, the air flowing therethrough follows the ceiling and the air flowing through the perforated screen is attracted by the air flow through the slot and also flows across the ceiling before finally descending into the theatre. When the slot is at the bottom of the device the air flowing therethrough descends more quickly into the theatre and carries with it the air passing through the perforated screen. If there is no slot at either the top or bottom of the device, the air flows through the perforated screen and across the theatre in a diagonal direction. A handle 5 is provided for moving the screen.
