Abstract

1,025,481. Ventilators. BURGESS PRODUCTS CO. Ltd. May 15, 1963 [May 15, 1962], No. 18749/62. Heading F4V. Apparatus for distributing air to a room from a duct 18 comprises an elongated passage 10 having a discharge slot 16 and an air flow control damper 19 comprising a dished elongated perforated plate co-operating with an air inlet 17. The perforations in the plate occupy up to 25% of its area. An internally-threaded bush 23 fixed to the damper 19 is engaged by a threaded portion 24 of an adjusting spindle 25 carrying a manually operated adjusting wheel 26. The damper 19 is prevented from rotating by two plates 31 depending from the upper wall 13 of the passage 10. A perforated diffuser plate 34 extends along the length of the passage 10 above a pivoted distribution plate 20 whose movement is limited by a plurality of stops 22. The plate 20 is held in position by friction at its pivot 21 and is accessible for manual adjustment through the slot 16. Deflector plates 33, Fig. 2 (not shown), in the passage 10 assist diffusion of air towards the ends of the slot 16. The passage 10 is located above the ceiling of a room, the slot 16 being surrounded by a slotted facing plate 35 which is flush with the ceiling. Two passages 10 may be mounted one on either side of a strip light housing having side walls 38 the adjusting wheels 26 of the dampers 19 projecting through the top wall of the housing.
