Abstract

1452394 Ventilators AR-VENTILATION AB 8 Jan 1974 [16 Jan 1973] 00845/74 Heading F4V A ventilating air distribution device comprises a grille 6 at an air outlet of a duct or as shown a housing 5 connected to a duct, the grille 6 defining primary airflow openings 12 and having along one edge a flange 10 which extends into the duct or housing 5 at right angles to grille 6, the flange 10 having one or more secondary airflow openings 11, and the grille 6 being movable relative to the duct or housing 5 to at least partially close or to open the openings 11. Airflow through opening(s) 11 is said to entrain the airflow through openings 12 and to encourage mixing of the ventilating air (at 14‹C) and the room air (at 24‹C). The device is mounted in the upper portion of an interior wall of the room. The grille 6 is pivotally mounted at its lower edge and is adjustable by a screw 14, a spring 16 being provided to bias the grille 6 away from the housing 5. A partition wall 15 extends the width of the housing to produce even distribution of air across the housing and to provide sound insulation. Air entry into housing 5 is controlled by a butterfly valve mounted on a shaft 20 linked to a crank 23 on a rotatable pin 24. The housing 5 may include an outlet connected to a pressure gauge so that the pressure drop through the housing can be read and varied by adjustment of the butterfly valve.
