Abstract
826,791. Ventilators. FITT, T. C. May 29, 1958 [May 31, 1957], No. 17271/57. Class 137 A gas flow controlling device of the ball-and-socket type has the ball formed with two mutually opposed openings, one giving a diffused flow and the other a jet flow, and at least one other opening disposed laterally of the mutually opposed openings, the ball being mounted so as to be reversible with respect to the socket so that either may act as outlet while the other acts as inlet, and the laterally disposed opening also may act as inlet when a duct enters the side of the device. As shown, a ball 10 having two diametrically opposed openings 12, 13, the former being provided with diffusing elements, is mounted in a socket 11 by means of an L-shaped flange 17 attached by studs 16 to the ball by one arm, the other arm being supported in a flange 18, 19, 20 of the socket, a further flange 22 being secured to the flange 20 by rivets. One or more lateral openings 15, which may be of different sizes, are provided in the ball which may be rotated about the studs 16 and about the diameter containing the openings 12, 13. Supply to the device may be from the side through the openings 15 or along the diameter containing the openings 12, 13. Specification 635,591 [Group I] is referred to.
