Abstract

567,452. Air nozzles. HALL & KAY, Ltd., HALL, S., and MYERS, A. Aug. 24, 1943, No. 13791. [Class 137] A nozzle of the kind, such as that described in Specification 502,896, which can be adjusted to supply air from a ventilating duct in a straight or a radially diffused stream, or both simultaneously, is constructed so that no part extends into the duct, and comprises an outer nozzle 3 mounted on the duct, an inner nozzle 11 the lower end of which extends through the opening of the nozzle 3 and is formed as at 13 to direct the air from the latter nozzle radially, and a closure 10. The inner nozzle 11 is axially adjustable between positions in which its inner end 12 contacts the closure 10 or contacts the end 8 of the outer nozzle ; in the first position the air passes wholly by way of nozzle 3 and is diffused radially by the flange 13 and in the second position the outlet from the nozzle 3 is closed and the air passes into nozzle 11 which delivers it in a straight stream. As shown, the nozzle is slidably mounted on pillars 9 by frictional means such as rubberpacked stuffing boxes 14. The pillars 9 also carry the inverted dish-form closure 10. The outer nozzle may be carried in a part-spherical, mounting so that it may be adjusted to vary the direction of the air stream.
