Abstract

596,863. Ventilators. CRITTALL & CO., Ltd., R., and PRICE, R. A. Dec. 6, 1944, No.. 24382. [Class 137] Swivelling ventilator fittings provide inner and outer passages 2, 3, through which air issues respectively as a jet and a diffused current, valves 5, 6, enabling either or both flows to be shut off. A slidable sleeve 4 which may be retained in various positions by means of a spring- pressed plunger 9 dropping into recesses in the inner passage wall carries a shaft 7 upon which the valves are slidably mounted with a spring 8 interposed. In a modification a sleeve constituting the inner passage carries a flange with a ported depending portion which co-operates with ports in the outer wall of the fitting so that when the sleeve is in its inner position the ports communicate with the outer passage and when the sleeve is pulled out with the inner passage. Rotation of the sleeve in the former position to bring the ports out of register causes both passages to be shut off.
