Abstract
1392959 Discharging from fluidized bed ESCHER WYSS Ltd 25 July 1972 [26 July 1971] 34799/72 Heading B8A A stream of material conveyed by a fluidized bed is discharged at a shoot which comprises means for controlling the friction between the stream and the shoot in order to control the rate of flow of the stream in the channel and thereby the height of the fluidized bed. In Fig. 2, the floor of shoot 9 is perforated and air is blown through the apertures at a rate controlled by valves 12 and 13. The contours of the shoot may be varied, the shoot may be telescopic and a shield may be provided to mask certain of the apertures in the floor of the shoot.
