Abstract

Description
Estructura susceptora
Esta solicitud reivindica el beneficio de la solicitud provisional de patente U.S.A. número 61/198.981, presentada el 12 de noviembre de 2008, que se incorpora en el presente documento como referencia en su totalidad.
Los susceptores han sido utilizados en envases convencionales para calentamiento mediante microondas con el fin
de mejorar el calentamiento, el dorado, y/o el tostado de alimentos. Un susceptor comprende en general una delgada capa de material interactivo con la energía de las microondas (en general, de menos de aproximadamente 15 100 angstroms de grosor, por ejemplo, desde aproximadamente 60 angstroms hasta aproximadamente 100 angstroms de grosor, y que tiene una densidad óptica desde aproximadamente 0,15 hasta aproximadamente 0,35, por ejemplo, desde aproximadamente 0,21 hasta aproximadamente 0,28) que tiende a absorber, por lo menos, una porción de la energía incidente de las microondas y convertirla en energía térmica (es decir, calor) en la interfaz con el alimento. Las películas susceptoras, a su vez, a menudo están unidas a un material de soporte (o “soporte”) dimensionalmente estable, por ejemplo, papel o cartón (“soportes que contienen humedad” o “soportes basados en fibra”), para definir conjuntamente una “película susceptora soportada”.
25 Las películas susceptoras soportadas se pueden utilizar solas o en combinación con varios materiales distintos para formar diversas construcciones de calentamiento mediante microondas. No obstante, cuando el lado descubierto del soporte que contiene humedad es unido a otra capa utilizando una capa continua de adhesivo, la estructura resultante puede tender a exfoliarse durante el calentamiento. Aunque sin pretender estar limitado por ninguna teoría, se cree que, durante el calentamiento, la humedad en el soporte que contiene humedad es liberada como
30 vapor de agua, que ejerce una presión sobre las capas contiguas de la estructura. Sin un camino para la liberación del vapor de agua, las capas de la estructura tienden a exfoliarse y a levantarse unas con respecto a otras. En algunos casos, esta separación o hinchado de la estructura puede provocar que el alimento dispuesto en la estructura se dé la vuelta o se caiga de manera no deseada. Este fenómeno ha sido observado tanto cuando la película susceptora soportada ha sido unida a otra capa a base de fibra como cuando la película susceptora
35 soportada ha sido unida a otra capa de película de polímero.
Se sabe que las estructuras con más de un susceptor pueden generar más calor que las estructuras con un solo susceptor. Por lo tanto, en dichas estructuras de múltiples susceptores, el riesgo de exfoliación puede aumentar. Por lo tanto, sigue existiendo la necesidad de una estructura de múltiples susceptores que resista la exfoliación
40 involuntaria e incontrolada durante la utilización. Sigue siendo asimismo necesario un procedimiento para fabricar dicha estructura.
CARACTERÍSTICAS
45 Esta invención se refiere, en general, a diversas estructuras interactivas con la energía de las microondas, a diversas construcciones formadas a partir de dichas estructuras, a diversos procedimientos de fabricación y a dichas estructuras y construcciones, y a diversos procedimientos de utilización de dichas estructuras y construcciones para calentar, dorar y/o tostar un alimento en un horno de microondas.
50 Las estructuras, en general, comprenden una película susceptora soportada, que incluye una capa susceptora dispuesta entre una capa de película de polímero y una capa de soporte que contiene humedad (por ejemplo, papel
o cartón), y una capa contigua, por ejemplo, una película de polímero, una capa de papel o una capa de cartón. La capa que contiene humedad se une a la capa contigua utilizando cualquier procedimiento adecuado que permita la liberación de la humedad de la capa que contiene humedad sin provocar una exfoliación involuntaria e incontrolada

Una delgada capa de material -702-interactivo con las microondas está soportada sobre una primera película de polímero -704-para formar una película susceptora -706-. Uno o varios reactivos -708-, opcionalmente en el interior de un recubrimiento, están dispuestos contiguos, por lo menos, a una porción de la capa -702-de material interactivo con las microondas. La película susceptora -706-recubierta con el reactivo -708-se une a una segunda película -710-de polímero utilizando un adhesivo -712-según un patrón, u otro material, o utilizando unión térmica, unión por ultrasonidos, o cualquier otra técnica adecuada, de modo que se forman celdas -714-cerradas (mostradas como un espacio vacío) en el material -700-.
Numerosos reactivos pueden ser adecuados para utilización en la estructura -722-. Por ejemplo, los reactivos pueden comprender bicarbonato de sodio (NaHCO3) y un ácido adecuado. Cuando son expuestos al calor, los reactivos reaccionan para producir dióxido de carbono. Como ejemplo adicional, el reactivo puede comprender un agente espumante. Ejemplos de agentes espumantes que pueden ser adecuados incluyen, pero no están limitados a, p-p'-oxibis (bencenosulfonilhidracida), azodicarbonamida, y p-toluenosulfonilsemicarbacida. No obstante, se comprenderá que en el presente documento se contemplan numerosos reactivos y gases liberados adicionales.
Cuando el material -702-interactivo con la energía de las microondas se calienta tras la incidencia de la energía de las microondas, vapor de agua u otros gases son liberados (o generados por) el reactivo -708-, ejerciendo con ello presión sobre la película susceptora -706-en un lado y la segunda película de polímero -710-en el otro lado de las celdas -714-cerradas, tal como se explicó en relación con los diversos materiales aislantes adicionales descritos anteriormente. Incluso sin una capa de papel o cartón, el gas resultante del reactivo, es suficiente para inflar las celdas expandibles y absorber el exceso de calor del susceptor. Dichos materiales están descritos adicionalmente en la publicación de solicitud de patente U.S.A. número 20060278521A1, que se incorpora en el presente documento como referencia en su totalidad.
La invención contempla innumerables construcciones y estructuras adicionales interactivas con la energía de las microondas. Si se desea, cualquiera de dichas estructuras puede incluir una o varias zonas que son transparentes frente a la energía de las microondas. Dichas zonas transparentes a la energía de las microondas transmiten la energía de las microondas y, en algunos casos, pueden provocar la formación de campos eléctricos localizados que aumentan el calentamiento, el dorado y el tostado de un alimento contiguo. Las zonas transparentes pueden estar dimensionadas, posicionadas y/o dispuestas para personalizar el calentamiento, el dorado y/o el tostado de una zona concreta del alimento que se va a calentar.
Por ejemplo, la figura 8A muestra esquemáticamente una vista superior en planta de otra construcción -800-de calentamiento mediante microondas (por ejemplo, un disco calefactor mediante microondas) que incluye, en general, un susceptor -802-(mostrado esquemáticamente mediante punteado) que circunscribe una serie de zonas transparentes a la energía de las microondas -804-, -806-(mostradas esquemáticamente en blanco). En este ejemplo, el disco -800-tiene una forma sustancialmente circular. No obstante, se puede utilizar cualquier forma regular o irregular.
El disco -800-incluye una región central -808-y una región periférica -810-. En la región central -808-del disco -800-, las zonas transparentes a la energía de las microondas -804-son de forma sustancialmente circular, disminuyendo la concentración de zonas transparentes a la energía de las microondas -804-desde el centro del disco -800-hacia el exterior, hacia la región periférica -810-. No obstante, se contemplan otras configuraciones. En la región periférica -810-, las zonas transparentes a la energía de las microondas -806-son de forma sustancialmente cuadrada y están dispuestas en filas y columnas, de modo que el material interactivo con la energía de las microondas en la región periférica -810-tiene un aspecto similar a una malla. Tal como se indicó anteriormente, el porcentaje de zona transparente puede ser variado según sea necesario para lograr el calentamiento, el dorado y/o el tostado deseados del alimento. Dichas zonas se pueden formar de cualquier manera adecuada, tal como se describirá a continuación.
La figura 8B muestra esquemáticamente una vista en sección transversal de una porción del disco de calentamiento mediante microondas -800-de la figura 8A. El disco de calentamiento mediante microondas -800-incluye un par de elementos interactivos con la energía de las microondas -802a-, -802b-, por ejemplo, susceptores, soportados sobre los respectivos sustratos transparentes a la energía de las microondas -812a-, -812b-, por ejemplo, capas de película de polímero, para definir conjuntamente películas susceptoras o capas de película susceptora -814a-, -814b-respectivas.
