La viscosidad Mooney intenta medir la capacidad de una composición de caucho para que sea procesada por ejemplo, por un fabricante. A menor viscosidad de la composición, más fácil es procesar la composición. La
5 viscosidad Mooney se mide en conformidad con la norma ASTM D 1646-00 con un viscosímetro MV2000 de Alpha Technologies, con CML 1 + 4 a 100ºC (212ºF). Las mediciones se tomaron inicialmente y a cuatro minutos. Las mediciones para la Composición A se normalizan a 100%, y los valores para las otras composiciones se ajustan según corresponda. El gráfico anterior muestra que las Composiciones 1, 5, y 8 son muy similares en viscosidad de procesado en comparación con las Composiciones Comparativas A, C, y D.
10 En conclusión, los datos acumulados confirman que las Composiciones 1, 5, y 8 (hechas de Resinas 1, 5, y 8) son alternativas viables para las actuales realizaciones comerciales que se muestran en las Composiciones A, C, y D (hechas de Resinas A, C, y D), comportándose igual o mejor en los ensayos asociados con la evaluación del comportamiento de resorcinol y resinas de resorcinol.
