ESTE RECUBRIMIENTO ESTRECHA LA SEPARACION ENTRE LAS PESTAÑAS EN EL BORDE DE LA PILA DE COMBUSTIBLE Y HACE POSIBLE QUE ESTA PEQUEÑA SEPARACION SEA RELLENADA CON UNA LAMINA CRUDA DE VIDRIO DE SOLDADURA (53) O UN MATERIAL DE SOLDADURA SIMILAR QUE SELLA LATERALMENTE LA PILA DE COMBUSTIBLE DE FORMA IMPERMEABLE AL GAS CUANDO SE MONTA LA PILA DE COMBUSTIBLE. LAS PESTAÑAS ESTAN TAMBIEN AISLADAS UNA DE LA OTRA.
