Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a sensor for oxygen gas which is easily mounted or replaced, and is hardly broken, by attaching a solid electrolyte film sandwiched between two film electrodes to a porous substrate, then by burying the composite material in a supporting substrate with interposition of sealant.
CONSTITUTION: A thin platinum electrode 4 of about 3μm thickness, a solid electrolyte film 6 of about 3μm thickness e.g. zirconium oxide contg. yttrium oxide, a thin platinum electrode 4 of about 3μm thickness are laminated and mounted on a flat, porous substrate 3 e.g. alumina plate of about 0.8mm thickness through which gaseous oxygen is permeable. A take-out electrode 5 e.g. platinum foil is spot welded to the platinum film electrodes 4. Said composite material is buried in a supporting substrate 7 such as dense as dense alumina plate, and the space formed between the porous substrate 3 and the substrate 7 is sealed with sealant 8 e.g. alumina-silica glass thereby forming a sensor for oxygen gas.
