DE ACUERDO CON LA INVENCION LAS CAPAS DE CONTACTO SON TRATADAS ANTES DE ENLACE SIN QUE SEAN FUNDIDAS, DE TAL MODO QUE EL OXIDO METALICO SE REDUCE AL MENOS PARCIALMENTE A METAL EN AL MENOS UN LADO DE LA SOLDADURA EN LA SUPERFICIE Y EN LA REGION ADYACENTE DE LA CAPA DE CONTACTO. TAL REDUCCION PUEDE SER OBTENIDA MEDIANTE TRATAMIENTO TERMICO BAJO UNA ATMOSFERA DE REDUCCION. EL OXIDO DE HIERRO, ESPECIALMENTE EN CONTACTO CON MATERIALES A BASE DE OXIDO DE HIERRO-PLATA (AGFE{SUB,2}O{SUB,3}/FE{SUB,3}O{SUB,4}), PUEDE SER REDUCIDO SOBRE EL LADO DE CONEXION ASI COMO EL HIERRO, COMO REFORMA DE OXIDO DE HIERRO DESPUES DEL CONEXIONADO. DE FORMA ALTERNATIVA PUEDE SER AÑADIDO CARBON AL LADO DE SOLDADURA DE LA CAPA DE CONTACTO COMO AGENTE DE REDUCCION. CON ELLO LA REDUCCION PUEDE TENER LUGAR ESPECIALMENTE DE FORMA LOCALIZADA.
