LA CAPA PROTECTORA COMPRENDE UNA PINTURA DE UNA TENSION INTERNA RESIDUAL SSIR DE A LO SUMO L MPA, MEDIDA POR EL METODO CANTILEVER (SEGUN ESTA DEFINIDO EN LA MEMORIA), A UNA TEMPERATURA MAYOR QUE SU TEMPERATURA DE TRANSICION CRISTALINA. LA PINTURA TIENE LA COMPOSICION SIGUIENTE: 50% DE PIGMENTOS CON 10% DE DIOXIDO DE TITANIO, 45% DE SULFATO DE BARIO, 25% DE TALCO, 15% DE PIGMENTO DE PLOMO Y 5% DE PIGMENTO COLORANTE Y NEGRO DE CARBONO; 15% DE LIGANTE CON 100% DE ESTER DE RESINA EPOXI CON 45% DE ACEITE DE RICINO, Y 35% DE DISOLVENTES CON 5% DE BUTANOL E ISOBUTANOL Y 95% DE XILENO. EL PROCEDIMIENTO CONSISTE EN LA APLICACION DE LA PINTURA CON UN APARATO DE REVESTIMIENTO POR CORTINA. SE PROTEGE EL ESPEJO CONTRA LA CORROSION.
