Definitions
- the invention relates to a training device for training specific muscles or muscle groups of a user, comprising: a frame; an engagement element movably mounted on the frame, which is set up so that the user applies a force to it during training using at least one of his body parts; a pivot arm which is pivotally mounted on the frame by means of a joint and which is operatively connected to the engagement element; a receptacle for a counter-force element, which acts on the swivel arm and opposes a counter-force to the force introduced by the user; a user-actuable adjusting element for adjusting the lever arm for the receptacle, which has a guide on which a carriage is slidably guided, on which the receptacle and a locking bolt are provided; and a locking means, which locks the locking pin in a first position on the swivel arm, and this locking can be released by means of the locking means, so that the receptacle moves into a further position.
- Such a training device is from the U.S. 2015/148200 A1 known.
- Training devices are known from practice and are used to train certain muscles or muscle groups. In concrete terms, they serve to build muscle in the trained muscle or muscle group.
- An example of such a training device is a press bench, which the user can use to train the arm or leg muscles, for example.
- Other training devices are used to train the abdominal muscles and/or the chest muscles and/or the back muscles.
- the training device provides a counter force, which counteracts the user's strength and thus trains the muscle or muscle group in question.
- the counterforce is usually provided by means of weights, which the user lifts via a mechanism of the training device and lowers them again in a controlled backwards movement.
- weights which the user lifts via a mechanism of the training device and lowers them again in a controlled backwards movement.
- magnets would be conceivable.
- the opposing force can be provided by any means capable of converting kinetic energy into potential energy. When moving backwards, the drug often releases the potential energy again, so that the user must maintain muscle tension even when moving backwards in order to control the counterforce.
- Desired fatigue of the muscle or muscle group to be trained occurs during training. This leads to the user no longer being able to carry out the exercise properly, for example no longer achieving the desired amplitude of the movement, since he is no longer able to control or maintain the opposing force due to fatigue. If, in such a case, the desired number of repetitions has not yet been reached and the desired training effect has therefore not yet been achieved, the counterforce is reduced so that the user can continue training properly with reduced force.
- the counterforce is reduced by removing a certain number of weight disks or by replacing a heavy weight with a correspondingly lighter weight. It is also known to shorten the lever arm in the case of weights attached to pivot arms by transferring one or more weight disks from a first receptacle to another receptacle located closer to the pivot bearing. A similar procedure could be followed if the counterforce is induced by one or more springs or magnets.
- the disadvantage here is that the user has to leave the training device or be helped by an assistant, for example his trainer. Since both sides of the body are usually trained at the same time, the weights are often on both sides sides of the training device. Then the user or the assistant even has to walk around the device to shorten the lever arm or remove weight plates. In any case, the user must interrupt the training for a certain period of time, during which the muscle or muscle group in question can recover. This is also undesirable, as it reduces the success of the training.
- the invention is based on the problem of further developing a training device of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that the counterforce can be adjusted in a short time.
- the training device is characterized in that the locking means is in the form of a locking lever with at least two pockets which encompass the locking bolt in the first position or in a further position.
- the user can easily and quickly adjust the counterforce without having to leave the training device or ask an assistant.
- the muscle or muscle group in question has little or no time to recover briefly during this adjustment of the counterforce.
- the muscle or the Muscle group can be trained with a few repetitions with the adjusted counterforce until the desired muscle failure.
- the training success is improved in a surprisingly simple way.
- the counterforce can be adjusted discretely by means of the adjustment element. In doing so, e.g. B. to adapt to progressive fatigue, several values for the counterforce can be set. But here, too, it is usually sufficient in practice if the counterforce can be adjusted between two values. This results in a construction of the training device that is sufficient in practice and structurally simple.
- the counter-pressure element is pivotably mounted on the frame.
- the counterforce is adjusted simply by changing the lever arm for the counterforce element by means of the adjusting member.
- the counter-pressure element has a swivel arm with a receptacle for the counter-force element, which is slidably mounted on the swivel arm.
- the recording can be moved in a simple manner by means of the adjustment element on the swivel arm. The torque acting on the swivel arm is therefore adjusted.
- the adjustment element has a locking means which locks the receptacle in a first position on the swivel arm, and this locking can be released by means of the locking means, so that the receptacle moves into a further position.
- the recording can be moved in a particularly simple manner by means of a spring or by its own weight on the swivel arm.
- the opposing force is reduced by means of the adjustment element according to a structural design analogous to the known training devices described above.
- a reduction of at least 35%, preferably at least 40%, but at most 65%, preferably at most 60%, particularly preferably 50%, has proven to be particularly advantageous.
- a further advantage of the above-mentioned further development of the invention lies in the following: When building muscle, it is recommended to train with fast movements. The weight is thereby moved upwards against gravity at a speed proportional to the movement of the user and experiences a corresponding acceleration at the beginning and deceleration at top dead center. This causes the weight to bounce upwards, causing shocks. If the lever arm of the weight is now reduced, the weight only moves at a correspondingly reduced speed. The acceleration or deceleration of the weight is also reduced accordingly and the weight no longer jumps up as much. Shocks are reduced accordingly.
- the counterforce can be induced by means of at least one weight, in practice mostly weight discs.
- a lever arm for receiving the spring on the swivel arm can be adjusted.
- two or more springs connected in parallel one or more of which are coupled in or out in order to change the counterforce.
- the counterforce can be provided by at least one magnet. The counterforce can be changed analogously to the springs.
- a training device with the features of the invention specifically a so-called flat bench machine 10
- a so-called flat bench machine 10 is shown.
- the invention can also be used in an analogous manner for other training devices, such as shoulder press machines or a negative press bench.
- the flat bench machine 10 has, in a known manner, a couch 11 on which the user lies with his back during training.
- the user lies in accordance with the representation Figures 1 and 2 with the head to the left and the legs to the right.
- a frame 12 is arranged at the head end of the lounger 11 .
- a first (right) swivel arm 13 is pivotably attached to the frame 12 by means of a joint 14 .
- a second (left) pivot arm 15 is provided on the opposite, left side of the bed 11, which in turn is pivotally attached to the frame 12 by means of a joint 16.
- the swivel arms open towards the foot end of the bed 11 by an angle ⁇ , which is 34 ° in the present case.
- the swivel arms 13, 15 are attached to the frame by means of the joints 14, 16 in such a way that they can be swiveled upwards away from the bed 11 and inwards (towards one another).
- the swivel arms 13 , 15 are, overall, but not necessarily mirror-symmetrical to a longitudinal center plane 17 of the couch 11 .
- handles are provided which the user grips with his hand during training.
- the user presses the swivel arms 13, 15 against an opposing force, which in the present case is exerted by the forces acting on the swivel arms 13, 15 acting weights is induced upwards and pivots them about the joints 14, 16.
- the present flat bench machine 10 still corresponds to a known flat bench machine.
- the special feature of the training devices according to the invention, including the present flat bench machine 10 is that the counter-force acting on the swivel arms 13, 15 by means of a Figures 3 to 5 Adjusting member 20 shown is adjustable.
- the left swivel arm 15 with its adjusting element 20 is shown.
- the other, right-hand swivel arm 13 can be of mirror-symmetrical design.
- a first support 21 is provided at the end of the swivel arm 15 opposite the joint 16 .
- a second bracket 22 is located between the first bracket 21 and the joint 16 . Specifically, the second bracket 22 is provided closer to the joint 16 than the first bracket 21 .
- a guide is held between the supports 21, 22, which in the present case is formed by two guide rods 23, 24 running parallel to one another. On the guide rods 23, 24, a carriage 25 is guided.
- the adjusting element 20 also has a locking means, which in the present case is designed as a locking lever 27 pivotably arranged on the first support 21 .
- the locking lever 27 is designed as a two-armed lever.
- the length of a first arm 28 corresponds to the length of the guide rods 23, 24 and has two pockets 29, 30.
- the shape of the pocket 29, 30 corresponds to the shape of a locking bolt 26 and can, as in the Figures 3 and 5 shown, embrace.
- the ones in these Figures 3 and 5 The position of the locking lever 27 shown is referred to below as the locked position, while the 4
- the position shown, in which the arm 28 is pivoted upwards so that none of the pockets 29, 30 engages around the locking bolt 26, is referred to as the open position.
- the distance between the pockets 29, 30 and their positioning on the arm 28 are chosen so that the carriage 25 almost or completely hits the first support 21 when the locking pin 26 is in the first pocket 29 ( 3 ), while the carriage 25 almost or completely hits the second support 22 when the locking pin 26 is in the second pocket 30 ( figure 5 ).
- any other suitable spacing or positioning for the pocket 29, 30 can also be provided. More than two pockets can also be provided, so that there are one or more additional pockets between the pockets 29, 30.
- the second arm of the locking lever 27 is designed as an actuating handle 31 .
- the user can the locking lever 21 in the representation according to Figures 3 to 5 pivot counterclockwise so that the respective pocket 29 or 30 disengages from the locking bolt 26 and releases the carriage 25 (open position according to 4 ).
- the carriage 25 can then be moved along the guide rods 23, 24 and the distance between the receptacle 19 and the joint 16 of the swivel arm 15 and thus the lever arm of the weight disc (or several weight discs) held by the receptacle 19 can be adjusted.
- the user first trains with a greater torque and thus greater counterforce, i.e. greater distance of the receptacle 18, 19 from the joint 16.
- the locking bolt 26 is in the 3 shown position in the first pocket 29. If the muscle to be trained or the muscle group to be trained begins to tire, the user grasps the actuating handle 31 and pivots the locking lever 27 into the 4 shown open position. The pocket 29 releases the locking bolt 26 and the carriage 25 slides against the second support 22. The user returns the locking lever 27 to the locked position according to FIG figure 5 . This can be done by the user actively actuating the locking lever 27 . However, the locking lever 27 can also be biased into the locked position, so that it automatically falls back into the locked position.
- This preload can be achieved by a correspondingly higher weight of the arm 28 or by a spring.
- the second pocket 30 now encompasses the locking bolt 26 and locks the carriage 25 thereby in this position according to figure 5 .
- the lever arm of the weight disc (or several weight discs) resting on the receptacle 19 is now shortened. The user can now continue training with less counterforce due to the lower torque.
- the carriage 25 is prestressed in such a way that it automatically slides against one of the supports 21 or 22 when the locking lever 27 is in the open position. Specifically, the carriage 25 is prestressed in such a way that it slides against the second support 22, so that when the locking lever 27 is opened, the lever arm of the receptacle 19 is always shortened and the counterforce is therefore reduced.
- This bias can be provided by a suitable spring, magnet or any other suitable way. In the present case, however, this bias is achieved by the simple effect of gravity, ie by the weight of the carriage 25 itself, with the weight attached to it.
- the guide rods 23, 24 are arranged obliquely to the swivel arm 15 in the present case; If the user now wants to adjust the counterforce, he brings the swivel arm 15 into an almost horizontal position ( 4 ). In this position he can secure the swivel arm 15 in a manner known per se. Now the user brings the locking lever 27 into the open position. As a result, the locking pin 26 disengages from the pocket 29, as described above, and the carriage 25 slides down against the second support 22 due to gravity. The locking lever 27 is now closed again ( figure 5 ) and the user can continue exercising.
- the right-hand swivel arm 13 is designed in a similar manner and also has a correspondingly designed adjustment element 20 .
