  • the composite material 82 of the door panel is very similar to the composite material 66 of the partition panels 64 and consists of an autoclaved sandwich construction comprising a 20 mm vermiculite core 84, with a 0.8mm stainless steel plate 86 on the passenger compartment side and 5 mm of S 2 glass 88 on the driver's cabin side (see figure 7 ).
  • the door panel 80 requires 2 mm more S2 glass material than the partition panels 64, because the access door 78 does not benefit from an aluminium trim panel.
  • the access door 78 may comprise a metallic rectangular door frame and is hinged to one of the vertical edges 58 of the doorway frame 56 so as to open into the passenger compartment 16 only. In the closed position, the access door 78 bears against the doorway frame 56 at least along the vertical edges 58 and the top edge 60 of the doorway frame 56. As an option, the bottom edge 62 may be provided with a step on which the bottom edge of the access door 78 bears in the closed position to provide further structural support. However, consideration should be given to potential tripping hazard issues for train personal going through the doorway.
  • the access door 78 and doorway frame 56 are provided with a key-operated lock with at least three, preferably at least four latches.
  • One or more back wall cubicles 80 are located in the driver's cabin 14 directly adjacent to the back wall partition 16. Each back wall cubicle 80 has a back wall cubicle framework 82 directly secured to the car body structure 20.
  • the rail vehicle comprises a driver's cabin HVAC system with and HVAC ducting 84 that connects the driver's cabin to the outside of the rail vehicle without entering the passenger compartment 16.
  • the overall design of the driver's cabin back wall partition 18 provides a secure barrier against penetration due to explosion or terrorist act in the adjoining passenger compartment 16, which might disable the driver, and more specifically against penetration due to blast pressures and missiles (bullets).
  • the blast pressure loads will be reacted by the compression of the partition panels 64 and access door panel 80 onto the driver's cabin back wall partition framework 42 and into the car body structure 20. Additional support is provided by the back wall cubicles 82 after the partition and door panels have deflected under blast load by a few millimetres.
  • the relocation of the driver's cabin ducting 84 completely outside the passenger compartment 16 further prevents the blast pressure pulse from entering the driver's cabin 14.
  • the autoclaved sandwich materials 66, 82 selected for the partition and door panels 64, 80 provide a good missile penetration resistance without compromising the fire performance.

Claims (15)

  1. Véhicule ferroviaire (10) comprenant une structure de carrosserie de voiture (20), une cabine de conducteur (14), un compartiment passagers (16), et une cloison arrière de cabine de conducteur (18) séparant la cabine de conducteur (14) du compartiment passagers (18), caractérisé en ce que la cloison arrière de cabine de conducteur (18) comprend des panneaux de cloison (64) constitués d'un matériau composite (66) résistant aux déflagrations, résistant aux missiles et résistant au feu, dans lequel la cloison arrière de cabine de conducteur (18) comprend en outre une ossature (42) qui comprend une section de sol (44), deux sections verticales de côté de carrosserie (46) et une section de toit (48), et est fixée directement à la structure de carrosserie de voiture (20), et les panneaux de cloison (64) sont directement arrimés à l'ossature (42).
  2. Véhicule ferroviaire selon la revendication 1, dans lequel le matériau composite (66) des panneaux de cloison (64) comprend un ensemble en sandwich, de préférence un ensemble en sandwich autoclavé, comprenant un matériau d'âme (68) entre une plaque en acier inoxydable (70) sur un côté compartiment passagers et une plaque de côté cabine de conducteur (72) constituée d'acier inoxydable, de plaque de fibre de verre ou de fibre de carbone sur un côté cabine de conducteur.
  3. Véhicule ferroviaire selon la revendication 2, dans lequel le matériau d'âme (68) du matériau composite (66) des panneaux de cloison (64) comprend de la vermiculite.
  4. Véhicule ferroviaire selon la revendication 2 ou la revendication 3, dans lequel la plaque de côté cabine de conducteur (72) comprend des fibres de verre S2.
  5. Véhicule ferroviaire selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel la cloison arrière de cabine de conducteur (18) comprend en outre un ou plusieurs panneaux de garniture (74) couvrant les panneaux de cloison (64) et orientés vers le compartiment passagers (16).
  6. Véhicule ferroviaire selon la revendication 5, dans lequel les panneaux de garniture (74) sont constitués d'aluminium.
  7. Véhicule ferroviaire selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel l'ossature comprend en outre un encadrement de porte (56) arrimé directement à la section de toit (48) de l'ossature (42) au niveau d'une extrémité supérieure et à la section de sol (44) de l'ossature (42) et/ou à la structure de carrosserie de voiture (20) au niveau d'une extrémité inférieure, la cloison arrière de cabine de conducteur (18) comprenant en outre une porte d'accès (78) adaptée dans l'encadrement de porte (56).
  8. Véhicule ferroviaire selon la revendication 7, dans lequel la porte d'accès comprend un panneau de porte (80) fabriqué à partir d'un matériau composite (82) résistant aux déflagrations, résistant aux missiles, résistant au feu.
  9. Véhicule ferroviaire selon la revendication 8, dans lequel le matériau composite (82) du panneau de porte (80) comprend un ensemble en sandwich, de préférence autoclavé, comprenant un matériau d'âme (84) entre une plaque en acier inoxydable (88) sur un côté compartiment passagers et une plaque de côté cabine de conducteur (86) constituée d'acier inoxydable, de fibre de verre ou de fibres de carbone sur un côté cabine de conducteur.
  10. Véhicule ferroviaire selon la revendication 9, dans lequel le matériau d'âme (84) du matériau composite (82) du panneau de porte (80) comprend de la vermiculite.
  11. Véhicule ferroviaire selon la revendication 9 ou la revendication 10, dans lequel la plaque de côté cabine de conducteur (86) du matériau composite (82) du panneau de porte (80) comprend des fibres de verre S2.
  12. Véhicule ferroviaire selon l'une quelconque des revendications 7 à 11, dans lequel la porte d'accès (78) est fixée par charnière à l'encadrement de porte (56) de façon à s'ouvrir dans le compartiment passagers (16) uniquement, et, dans une position fermée, repose contre l'encadrement de porte (56) le long d'au moins deux et de préférence d'au moins trois chants de la porte d'accès (78).
  13. Véhicule ferroviaire selon l'une quelconque des revendications 7 à 12, dans lequel l'encadrement de porte (56) est équidistant ou sensiblement équidistant des sections de côté de carrosserie (46) de l'ossature (42).
  14. Véhicule ferroviaire selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, comprenant en outre un système CVC de cabine de conducteur reliant la cabine de conducteur (14) à l'extérieur du véhicule ferroviaire (10) sans entrer dans le compartiment passagers (16).
  15. Véhicule ferroviaire selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, comprenant en outre au moins un compartiment de paroi arrière (80) situé dans la cabine de conducteur (14) directement adjacent à la cloison arrière de cabine de conducteur (18), le compartiment de paroi arrière (80) ayant une ossature de compartiment de paroi arrière (82) arrimée directement à la structure de carrosserie de voiture (20).
