Definitions
- the invention relates to a fuel injector according to the preamble of claim 1.
- a fuel injector according to the preamble of claim 1 is known from DE 10 2012 205 699 A1 the applicant known.
- the known fuel injector is characterized in that on the outer circumference of its the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine facing valve housing portion is arranged a metal (sacrificial) protective sleeve.
- the background to this is that during operation of the internal combustion engine in the combustion chamber, the highest temperature prevails, which decreases gradually in the cylinder head or in the receiving bore on the side facing away from the combustion chamber in dependence on the distance to the combustion chamber.
- the temperature of the fuel injector or its valve housing also decreases with increasing distance to the combustion chamber.
- valve housing in the cylinder head of the internal combustion engine is usually sealed to the outside via a nozzle sealing disc, this mainly affects the region axially just below the nozzle sealing disk in the region of a first receiving bore section of the cylinder head, since there, in relative terms, the lowest temperatures prevail.
- the valve housing can be protected on its outer circumference from the ingress of the condensate or from corrosion.
- connection between the (sacrificial) protective sleeve and the fuel injector is in the known fuel injector in particular by shrinking the (Sacrificial) protection sleeve achieved on the outer circumference of the valve housing.
- the disadvantage here is that at the transition region between the (sacrificial) protective sleeve and the valve housing on the combustion chamber facing side of the (sacrificial) protective sleeve despite the shrinkage of the protective sleeve access of condensate can not be reliably prevented.
- a sealing element which consists of heat-resistant plastic or the like, the access of condensate in the receiving bore of the cylinder head in the direction of the combustion chamber side facing away.
- the sealing element is fastened or arranged, for example, on an additional element in the form of a sleeve in order to be able to position the sealing element at the correct axial position on the valve housing.
- the assembly of the fuel injector in the receiving bore by the required contact contact between the outer periphery of the sealing member and the receiving bore is problematic because damage to the sealing element must be avoided.
- the production of such a sealing element with additional sleeve and their installation in comparison to the protective sleeve made of copper mentioned above is relatively complicated or expensive.
- the invention has the object, a fuel injector according to the preamble of claim 1 such that with a relatively simple construction of the protective element and manufacturing technology simple mounting of the protective element both on the fuel injector and on the combustion chamber side facing of the protective element an optimized sealing effect is achieved.
- the invention is based on the idea to selectively seal the (radial) region between the protective sleeve and the first valve housing section of the valve housing.
- a seal in the sense of the invention is understood to be a seal which reliably prevents access of condensate into the radial gap between the protective sleeve and the valve housing on the combustion chamber facing side of the fuel injector under different operating conditions or temperatures and pressures in the combustion chamber.
- a cohesive connection in the form of a soldered connection is formed in the transition region between the protective sleeve and the first valve housing section.
- Such a solder joint has, assuming a sufficiently high temperature resistance of the solder, in particular the advantage that during the formation of the seal, the affected components are relatively low thermal stress. In particular, no unwanted material change (e.g., hardening, embrittlement, or the like) occurs on the valve housing or sleeve by forming such a bonded connection.
- a cohesive connection in the form of a welded connection, in particular a laser weld is formed at the transition region between the protective sleeve and the first valve housing section.
- a cohesive connection in the form of a welded connection, in particular a laser weld, is formed at the transition region between the protective sleeve and the first valve housing section.
- connection between the protective sleeve and the valve housing provides that the protective sleeve is pressed onto the first valve housing section of the valve housing.
- the protective sleeve has a radially encircling flange on the side facing away from the combustion chamber.
- the flange can thus be used as a tool engagement surface for transmitting the axial joining force.
- the flange makes it possible to dispense with a separate sealing disc as in the prior art mentioned above. The seal of the mounted fuel injector to the combustion chamber is taken over in this case by the flange of the protective sleeve.
- a particularly simple installation of the fuel injector in the receiving bore of the cylinder head can be achieved if the protective element has such a diameter or such a shape that is formed between the protective element and the first receiving bore portion in the cylinder head, a radial gap.
- FIG. 1 is shown in sections the upper portion of an internal combustion engine with a cylinder head 100.
- the cylinder head 100 delimits a combustion chamber 101 of the internal combustion engine, in which a piston 102 is arranged up and down in a customary manner in the direction of a longitudinal axis 105.
- the cylinder head 100 has a receiving opening 106 in the form of a stepped bore.
- the receiving opening 106 comprises, on the side facing the combustion chamber 101, a first receiving bore section 107, to which a second receiving bore section 108 adjoins on the side facing away from the combustion chamber 101.
- the two receiving bore portions 107, 108 are connected to each other via a radially encircling step 109, wherein the first receiving bore portion 107 has a smaller diameter than the second receiving bore portion 108, and wherein the two receiving bore portions 107, 108 are preferably each cylindrical.
- the fuel injector 10 which is shown greatly simplified, comprises a valve housing 11 made of metal with two valve housing sections 12, 13.
- the first valve housing section 12 has a smaller diameter than the second valve housing section 13, wherein the two valve housing sections 12, 13 are at least approximately cylindrical.
- the first valve housing portion 12 is disposed substantially within the first receiving bore portion 107 and the second valve housing portion 13 within the second receiving bore portion 108.
- the first valve housing portion 12 merges on the side facing the combustion chamber 101 in a dome-like end portion 14, in whose wall at least one Nozzle opening 15 is formed, can be injected via the fuel into the combustion chamber 101 of the internal combustion engine.
- the injection of the fuel takes place in a known per se and therefore not explained in more detail, because also not essential to the invention, in particular by a nozzle needle arranged in the fuel injector 10, which can be actuated by an actuator.
- first valve housing portion 12 While the first valve housing portion 12 is disposed within the first receiving bore portion 107, the end portion 14 of the valve housing 11 projects into the combustion chamber 101.
- the arrangement of the fuel injector 10 to the combustion chamber 101 and to the longitudinal axis 105 is exemplary parallel to the longitudinal axis 105th
- the fuel injector 10 is arranged with the interposition of a flange 25 of a protective element 20 in the receiving opening 106.
- the flange 25 with a (lower) end face on the step 109.
- the other (upper) end face of the flange 25 is arranged in abutting contact with an end face of the fuel injector 10 facing it.
- the fuel injector 10 is subjected to a force in the axial direction in the direction of the combustion chamber 101, for example by means of a clamping claw, not shown, or the like.
- the first Valve housing portion 12 is radially surrounded by the protective element 20.
- the protective element 20 is formed as a separate component in the form of a protective sleeve 21.
- the protective sleeve 21 is cylindrical, for example, with a constant wall thickness and pressed by a corresponding constitutionaltoler réelle on the outer diameter and the outer circumference of the first valve housing portion 12. Further, between the outer periphery of the protective member 20 and the protective sleeve 21 and the wall of the first receiving bore portion 107, a radial gap 110 is formed such that no abutting contact of the fuel injector 10 takes place at the receiving bore portion 107.
- the protective element 20 or the protective sleeve 21 consists of a material which is more noble than the material of the valve housing 11 or of the first valve housing section 12.
- a more noble material or material is understood as meaning a material that is less susceptible to corrosion than the (metallic) material of the valve housing 11.
- the protective element 20 or the protective sleeve 21 is preferably made of a metal such as copper.
- the choice of suitable material for the protective element 20 depends in particular, but not limited to, on the wall thickness of the protective element 20, as well as the prevailing combustion chamber temperatures and the material of the valve housing 11, and is chosen such that over the planned operating period of the fuel injector 10, the corrosion taking place on the protective element 20 has not yet progressed, as far as possible to the end of the operating period of the fuel injector 10, as far as the valve housing 11 or the first valve housing section 12.
- Fig. 1 It can be seen that the combustion chamber 101 facing (lower) end face 22 of the protective element 20 and the protective sleeve 21 ends axially above the lower end face 111 of the cylinder head 100 in the region of the receiving opening 106. It is essential that the lower end face 22 is flush with the lower end face 111 of the cylinder head 10 at the maximum, ie, that the protective element 20 or the protective sleeve 21 in no way protrudes into the combustion chamber 101.
- the radial transition region between the protective sleeve 21 and the first valve housing portion 12 is formed sealed.
- the end-side transition region to the valve housing portion 12 is provided with a cohesive connection 30, for example in the form of a solder joint 31.
- the solder of the solder joint 31 possibly fills existing radial gaps on the side facing the combustion chamber 101 between the outer circumference of the valve housing section 12 and the inner diameter of the protective sleeve 21.
- the cohesive connection 30 in the form of a welded joint 32 is formed between the protective sleeve 21 and the valve housing portion 12.
- the welded connection 32 comprises a weld seam 33 which extends radially on the outside of the protective sleeve 21, in particular in the form of a laser weld seam.
- the weld 33 melts the material of the protective sleeve 21 and the valve housing portion 12 in its transition region and provides the required seal.
- the axial position of the weld 33 is as close as possible to the (lower) end face 22 of the protective sleeve 21.

Description
- Fig. 1
