Definitions

  • the invention relates to a balaclava, in particular for a CBRN protective suit or the like, intended for use in combination with a mask body comprising a respirator or gas mask, with a hood and a face opening having hood, wherein the visual field opening is bounded by a seam and the Hem in the wearing state of the respirator or gas mask is designed to rest against the mask body, wherein the visual field opening has an upper opening portion and an opposite lower opening portion and two opposing lateral opening portions and wherein on the inside of the hood after the seam in the area at least one At least one projecting, elastic sealing element for gas-tight, planar contact with the mask body is provided at the lateral opening area.
  • the invention relates to a CBRN protective suit with a Balaklava of the aforementioned kind. Furthermore, the invention also relates to a Balaklava or a CBRN protective suit with a respiratory protection or gas mask.
  • balaclava will always be used for a “hood” which, as such, may be worn in conjunction with a protective suit or is part of the protective suit.
  • hood which, as such, may be worn in conjunction with a protective suit or is part of the protective suit.
  • Bathla is to be understood in principle also in the meaning of the term "hood”.
  • a balaclava in particular for a protective suit, generally has a peripheral, elastic seam for forming a visual field opening, through which protrude parts of the respiratory protection mask or gas mask, wherein the hem of the balaclava is intended to be applied to the mask during use.
  • the problem is that the transition from the hem to the respirator or gas mask is not sufficiently sealed in most cases. This can lead to toxic or dangerous substances passing through the insufficiently sealed transition between the seam and the mask body, and consequently the wearer of such a balaclava can come into contact with these substances or even get these substances under the mask, so that they are finally inhaled. This is particularly dangerous for wearers of such protective suits, the skin toxins such. B. mustard gas, are exposed.
  • the WO 2005/115550 A1 relates to a sealing space for a protective suit or hood of a protective suit made of a resistant material having an opening which in use serves to at least partially receive a respiratory mask, wherein a contoured area is provided, whose shape is adapted to the shape of the respirator.
  • a hood for protective clothing which has a circumferential hem.
  • at least one peripheral sealing element is provided on the side of the seam facing the visual field opening for sealing engagement with the mask.
  • the seam is designed as a sealing space, so that there is an increased sealing effect compared with a non-sealing seam.
  • a Balaklava of the aforementioned type known to be avoided or at least reduced in the leaks between the Balaklava and the mask body.
  • pockets are provided in the region of the seam, which contain an elastically deformable, approximately rectangular filling with straight edges. Is a pulling force on the Exercised edge, adapt the sealing elements of the adjacent contour, ie any irregularities of the surface, so that leaks are avoided, which may arise, for example, by the tight spanning dents with the hem.
  • the present invention proposes a balaclava according to claim 1; Further embodiments are the subject of the relevant subclaims.
  • the present invention thus proposes a balaclava, in particular for a CBRN protective suit or the like, intended for use in combination with a mask body having respiratory protection or gas mask, with a hood having a visual field opening, wherein the visual field opening through a hem is limited and the hem is formed in the wearing state of the respirator or gas mask for engagement with the mask body, wherein the visual field opening has an upper opening portion and an opposite lower opening portion and two mutually juxtaposed lateral opening portions, wherein on the inside of the hood following the seam is provided in the region of at least one lateral opening area at least one projecting, elastic sealing element for gas-tight, planar contact with the mask body and wherein the edge facing the seam d it sealing element has the shape of a bow portion and in the worn state of the Balaklava the course of the seam is at least substantially adapted, characterized in that the sealing element is designed as a gel pad.
  • the present invention relates to a CBRN protective suit with the balaclava according to the invention according to the independent claim; Further embodiments are the subject of the relevant subclaim.
  • the edge of the sealing element facing the seam has the shape of a bow section and the state of the hem is at least substantially adapted in the state of wear of the Balaklava, wherein the sealing element as a gel pad is trained.
  • the invention begins, in which an elastic sealing element is provided, in particular with elastoplastic properties, which adjoins the hem starting from the hem in the hood hood and due to its elastic or elastoplastic properties in the wearing state flat against the mask body.
  • the sealing element as such is on the inside over. In particular, it is on the lower sealing surface of the seam over, with the result that at a lifting of the hem of the mask body is still a sealing of the opening point, via the provided behind the seam sealing element.
  • the sealing element has a sickle-like shape. It is meant with sickle-shaped or bow-like shape of the peripheral edge of an inwardly curved peripheral edge. It is preferred in this context that the sealing element as such has an overall sickle shape, i. on one side with an inwardly curved peripheral edge and on the opposite side with an outwardly curved peripheral edge is provided.
  • the thickest portion of the sickle shape lies approximately in the middle of the cheek area - based on the wearing state - and thus at the point at which the strongest leaks in the relative movement of the mask body to the hem during a movement of the head of the user.
  • this widest region of the sickle lies in the central region of the sealing element, relative to the transverse axis.
  • the sealing element is preferably mirror-symmetrical with respect to the transverse axis.
  • the marginal edge of the sealing element facing the hem is at least substantially adapted to the course of the hem in the wearing state of the balaclava.
  • the edge facing the seam is then preferably the inwardly curved inside of the sickle in the sickle-like design of the sealing member.
  • the curvature of the material of the hood hood is taken into account in several directions in space.
  • the edge of the sealing element facing the hem runs in the state of wear of the balaclava over its entire length at least substantially equidistantly to the hem.
  • the sealing effect of the sealing member is therefore consistently high over its entire length along the seam, since the sealing element does not deviate to the edges of the course of the seam, so that at these points leaks in the form of gaps due to a lack of investment of the hem of the Mask contour could result. This is especially true for movements of the head of the wearer, where the hem can stand out in particular from the mask body, where no sealing element is provided or between the sealing member and the seam is too large a distance.
  • the sealing member facing the hem ie the crescent-shaped peripheral edge, which has the shape of a circular arc portion.
  • the radius of the circular arc is preferably between 5 cm and 15 cm, preferably between 7 cm and 12 cm, particularly preferably between 8 cm and 10 cm. Due to the circular arc-shaped course of the marginal edge of the balaclava in the state of wear of the Balaklava is achieved in a very good approximation to the course of the hem.
  • the edge of the sealing element facing away from the hem has an elliptical arc-shaped course. It results together with the sickle shape of the edge facing the seam overall a convex-concave shape of the sealing member, which is also referred to as ear-shaped. This shape is characterized in that in the middle region of the sealing element, the largest part of its total area is available for engagement with the mask body.
  • the radii of the outer peripheral edge are smaller than the radius of the inner peripheral edge.
  • Typical dimensions of hoods of the type in question and common dimensions and shapes of respirators are usually based on an average human head shape. It is therefore of particular advantage if the sealing element is also oriented in its outer dimensions to this shape. In this case, in particular the average size of the areas with an irregular contour profile of importance to which a smooth seam can create only insufficient.
  • Particularly advantageous sealing properties show up in a sealing element with a longitudinal extent between 2 cm and 20 cm, preferably between 5 cm and 15 cm, preferably between 7 cm and 12 cm, particularly preferably between 8 cm and 10 cm.
  • the dimension of the sealing element between 1 cm and 12 cm, preferably between 2 cm and 10 cm, preferably between 3 cm and 7 cm, particularly preferably between 4 cm and 6 cm , amount.
  • the sealing member not have the largest portion of its surface centrally, but closer to the edge, seen in the longitudinal direction of the sealing member. This may be the case, for example, if the balaclava is to be sealed against specially shaped respirators. For this purpose it is possible to form the sealing element asymmetrically with respect to its longitudinal direction.
  • the protruding sealing member which is provided on the inside of the hood hood, causes the seam to be more tensioned and therefore more pressed against the mask body, which overall improves the sealing effect in a balaclava according to the invention. This was also found in experiments.
  • the invention provides a reliable, gas-tight interface between the mask and the balaclava or the hood of a CBRN protective suit.
  • the invention provides that the sealing element is provided at least in the cheek area of the hood which, as a result, corresponds at least substantially to the cheek area of the wearer.
  • the sealing element In principle, it is possible to provide the sealing element only in the lateral opening region of the visual field opening, and there in particular detecting the cheek area. However, it is also possible for the sealing element to extend from the lateral opening area into the upper and / or lower opening area of the visual field opening. It is understood that it is advantageous to provide sealing elements mirror-symmetrically on opposite sides of the visual field opening. Incidentally, the seal can be realized not only via a single sealing element per side of the visual field opening, but also via two or a plurality of sealing elements.
  • the sealing element extends circumferentially around the visual field opening. Also in this embodiment, a circumferential seal can be realized via a plurality of sealing elements.
  • the sealing element is formed as a gel pad.
  • the gel pad on a polyurethane gel.
  • other gels are suitable.
  • a gel pad can be easily prepared by casting, wherein the gel pad preferably has an outer skin for receiving the gel. Such a skin may be introduced into the appropriate mold prior to casting.
  • the length and / or the maximum width of the sealing element - regardless of the thickness - may vary depending on the design of the hood and / or the mask body.
  • the length of the sealing element is between 5 to 15 cm, preferably between 7.5 and 11.5 cm and in particular about 9.5 cm.
  • the maximum width of the sealing element - regardless of the thickness and length - is preferably between 2 and 6 cm, more preferably between 3 and 5 cm and in particular about 4.2 cm.
  • the sealing element is at least partially graded or bevelled at the edge.
  • the abovementioned flattening applies in particular in the areas which do not represent the edge of the sealing element facing the hem.
  • the sealing member is preferably not flattened, that is so neither graded nor bevelled.
  • the sealing element adjoins the seam directly or is spaced at a small distance from the seam.
  • the distance should be at most about 1 cm.
  • the sealing element may be incorporated in the inner lining of the hood and sewn onto the inner lining. In both cases, the sealing element leads to a significant increase in the inner side of the inner lining relative to adjacent inner lining areas, which ultimately results in the planar and sealing engagement of the projecting area on the mask body.
  • a flexible covering layer is provided on the outside of the inner lining above the sealing element.
  • the cover layer as such is provided in any case in the region of the sealing element for sealing engagement with the mask body. It is particularly preferred that the covering directly adjoins the hem or at a distance of up to 1 cm from the seam is spaced.
  • the sewn-on covering layer forms a pocket for receiving the sealing element.
  • the covering layer is preferably applied wrinkle-free in the region of the sealing element.
  • the elastic / elastoplastic properties of the sealing element when the covering layer is sewn in the region of the sealing element with folds, leaks may occur between the mask body and the covering layer in the region of the sealing element.
  • the cover layer has a filter material which is suitable for receiving contaminants. For example, it makes sense if the filter material of the cover layer contains activated carbon.
  • the covering layer extends at least substantially circumferentially around the visual field opening. In this way, at least a portion of incoming contaminants can be taken up or filtered.
  • the seam is preferably formed as an elastic strip or corduroy.
  • the seam on its side facing the mask body underside has a sealing, in particular silicone-containing coating.
  • a good sealing effect between the underside of the seam and the mask body occurs. If the hem lifts off the mask body during a movement of the user's head, which can happen, in particular, in the cheek area of the hood body, the sealing element exerts a corresponding sealing effect, which prevents the penetration of contaminants into the interior area of the hood body.
  • the invention also relates to a CBRN protective suit with a Balaklava of the aforementioned type and a Balaklava and a CBRN protective suit, each with an associated respirator or gas mask.
  • a Balaklava 1 is shown, as such or in combination with a in Fig. 4 illustrated CBRN protective suit 2 can be used.
  • the Balaklava 1 is part of the CBRN protective suit 2.
  • the balaclava 1 it is also possible for the balaclava 1 to be detachably connectable to the CBRN protective suit 2, for example via zipper and / or hook-and-loop fastener connections.
  • Balaklava is otherwise designed such that it can be opened on the front side via a Velcro connection. With such an opening, the visual field opening 6 is also fully opened.
  • the balaclava is closed in its lower region. The Velcro 19 is then not provided.
  • Such a balaclava has a lower head opening through which the user's head has to be inserted.
  • a closure element for example in the form of a zipper or Velcro connection
  • Balaklava 1 can basically be worn without CBRN protective suit 2.
  • the balaclava 1 is intended for use in combination with a respirator or gas mask 3, as shown particularly in FIG Fig. 3 is shown.
  • the respirator or gas mask 3 has a mask body 4.
  • the balaclava 1 has a hood hood 5, which is provided with a visual field opening 6.
  • the visual field opening 6 is limited by a seam 7.
  • the seam 7 thus represents the outer edge of the hood hood 5 or the transition to the visual field opening 6.
  • the seam 7 is designed to bear on the mask body 4, as shown in FIG Fig. 3 is shown.
  • the visual field opening 6 has an upper opening area 8 and an opposite lower opening area 9. Furthermore, two opposing lateral opening areas 10, 11 are provided. Adjacent opening areas merge directly into one another.
  • a sealing element 13 is provided on the inner side 12 of the hood 5.
  • the sealing element 13 is provided following the seam 7 in the region of the lateral opening region 10, 11.
  • the sealing member 13 is about the remaining area of the inner surface of the inner side 12 of the hood hood 5 and over the seam 7 over, as this in particular Fig. 1 results.
  • the sealing element 13 In the wearing state, the sealing element 13 is gas-tight and flat against the mask body 4.
  • the sealing element 13 itself consists of an elastic material and preferably has elastoplastic properties. By this is meant that the sealing element 13 adapts to unevenness of the mask body 4 and applies flat and gas-tight to the mask body 4. After removal of the respirator or gas mask 3, the sealing member 13 returns due to its elastic properties in its original form.
  • a sealing member 13 is provided at each of the two side opening portions 10, 11, in the central part of the side opening portions 10, 11. This middle part represents the cheek area 14 of the hood hood 5.

It would also be possible in principle for a sealing element 13 of a lateral opening area 10, 11 or several of these sealing elements to extend into the upper and / or lower opening area 8, 9. Furthermore, this or the sealing elements 13 could also extend circumferentially around the visual field opening 6.
  • inventive sealing member 13 is a gel pad having a polyurethane gel.
  • This gel pad is made by casting and has an outer skin.
  • the sealing element 13 in the present case has a thickness of about 1.2 cm with a maximum length L of about 9.5 cm and a maximum width B of about 4.2 cm. How is it from the FIGS. 5 and 6 shows, the sealing member 13 at the edge side at least partially a gradation 15.
