- Coatings see eg US2007 / 02645678 and have a high capacity loss over the charge and discharge cycles, especially at high surface loads. In particular, during the charging and discharging cycles, a high irreversible loss of lithium occurs.
- Electrode active material based on silicon as the material with the highest known storage capacity for lithium ions, the silicon undergoes an extreme volume change by about 300% when charging or discharging with lithium.
- the surface of the silicon anode material used reacts with constituents of the electrolyte under continuous, irreversible lithium loss during (post) formation of passivating protective layers (solid electrolyte interface, SEI).
- Electrode active materials (A.J. Appleby et al., J. Power Sources 2007, 163, 1003-1039).
- the binder has an important function: PVdF as standard binder, as it is used in classical graphite anodes, is insufficient in the case of silicon-containing anodes.
- polyvinyl alcohol Due to its high concentration of hydroxyl groups and the concomitant good binding to the active materials, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is an obvious binder, as described, for example, in US Pat. No. 5,707,759.
- US6573004 Bl describes copolymers of ethylene and vinyl alcohol as a binder for electrode materials.
- the binder material must have a sufficient number of vinyl alcohol units for sufficient adhesion and cohesion. This results in a corresponding molecular weight, which is due to the

Description
Polymerzusammensetzung als Bindersystem für
Lithiumionenbatterien
Elektrodenaktivmaterialien verfolgt (A.J. Appleby et al . , J. Power Sources 2007, 163, 1003-1039) .
Polymerzusammensetzung P eingestellt bzw. vorgegeben.
