Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a burner assembly comprising a pilot burner device, a main burner device concentrically surrounding the pilot burner device and at least one resonator, wherein the main burner device has a burner hub which is provided along its outer circumference with a plurality of blades having swirl and at least one gas ring space fluidically connected to at least one gas supply line defined, which is connected via outlet openings fluidly formed in the blades gas channels.
  • Burner arrangements of the type mentioned above are known in the prior art in different configurations. They serve to burn gaseous fuels and are used for example in gas turbines. During operation of a burner arrangement, thermoacoustically induced combustion oscillations occur in the combustion chamber. These can excite components of the burner assembly to vibrate. If a stimulating oscillation coincides with a resonant frequency of the burner arrangement or its components, components can be destroyed. The excitation of the burner assembly and its components in the range of such resonance frequencies must be avoided accordingly.
  • the present invention provides a burner assembly of the type mentioned above, which is characterized in that the at least one resonator has a resonator cavity formed in the burner hub and at least one resonator opening extending outwardly from the resonator cavity.
  • An essential advantage of such a resonator is that it is arranged adjacent to the combustion chamber and thus effectively acts at the point of origin of the vibrations.
  • the at least one resonator is integrated into an already existing component of the burner arrangement, which therefore does not occupy any additional installation space and can be manufactured inexpensively.
  • the burner hub is integrally formed as a casting. In this way, a simple structure with few components is achieved.
  • the at least one resonator cavity is formed by an annular space and has a multiplicity of resonator openings.
  • the annular space is divided by at least one partition wall into at least two annular segment spaces, each forming a resonator cavity, the annular segment spaces advantageously having mutually different volumes.
  • the resonator openings of at least one annular segment space have a diameter which are different from the diameter of resonator openings of another ring segment space.
  • Resonators with different volumes and / or resonator openings with different diameters allow for damping of different frequency ranges.
  • the at least one resonator opening has a diameter in the range of 3 to 10 mm. With diameters in this area very good results were achieved.
  • At least one resonator opening is defined by a tubular insert member inserted into a channel formed in the burner hub which extends outwardly from the resonator cavity.
  • a tube-like insertion part can be used for example in an oil passage of a burner hub of a so-called dual fuel burner, in which normally an oil nozzle is positioned. Accordingly, an oil annulus provided with oil passages formed in a combustor hub of a dual fuel burner can be converted into a resonator.
  • the tube-like insertion part is provided in the region of its outer free end with an outwardly of the burner hub projecting vortex.
  • a swirling element has a positive effect on the flow of the air-fuel mixture of the main burner device.
  • the present invention relates to the use of an oil passage having oil passages of a burner hub as a resonator.
  • the figures show components of a burner assembly 1 according to an embodiment of the present invention in the region of a burner hub 2.
  • the burner assembly 1 comprises, in a known manner, a pilot burner device and a main burner device concentrically surrounding the pilot burner device, although these are not shown in detail here.
  • the burner hub 2 is manufactured as a one-piece cast component. It is designed substantially frusto-conical and has a central passage opening 3, which serves to receive the free end of the pilot burner device.
  • the burner hub 2 is provided along its outer periphery with a plurality of blades 4 having swirl blading and defines two gas ring spaces 5 and 6, the fluidically are connected to separate gas supply lines 7 and 8.
  • the gas chambers 5 and 6 are fluidly connected via outlet openings 9 and 10 respectively formed in the blades 4 gas channels 11 and 12.
  • gas can thus be supplied via the gas supply lines 7 and 8, distributed in the gas ring spaces 5 and 6 and introduced via the gas channels 11 and 12 into an annular flow channel 13 of the main burner device into which the blades 4 protrude.
  • the gas is mixed with combustion air, after which the fuel-air mixture is fed in the direction of arrows 14 of a combustion chamber, not shown, of the burner assembly 1, where it is burned.
  • the burner hub 2 further defines a resonator 15 having a resonator cavity 16 formed in the burner hub 2 and a plurality of resonator openings 17 extending outwardly from the resonator cavity 16.
  • the resonator cavity 16 is formed in an annular manner analogous to the gas channels 11 and 12.
  • the resonator openings 17 are each defined by a tube-like insertion part and have a diameter in the range from 3 to 10 mm.
  • Each insert member 18 is inserted into a channel 19 formed in the burner hub 2 which extends outwardly from the resonator cavity 16 and connects it to the flow channel 13 of the main burner means.
  • each insertion part 18 a swirling element 20 protruding outward from the burner hub 2 is provided, wherein the swirling elements 20 are each formed in one piece with the insertion parts 18.
  • the swirling elements 20 serve to swirl the emerging from the flow channel 13 of the main burner device fuel-air mixture.
  • the cross section of the swirling elements 20 may be suitably chosen.
  • FIGS. 4, 5 and 6 show exemplary swirling elements 20, 21 and 22 of various inserts 18, 23, 24 with triangular, round or square cross-section.
  • a significant advantage of the arrangement described above is that the resonator 15 is disposed immediately adjacent to the combustion chamber of the burner assembly 1, so that occurring in the combustion chamber frequencies can be effectively damped. Another advantage is that the resonator 15 occupies no additional space, since this is integrated into the burner hub 2.
  • the resonator cavity 16 is an oil distribution channel of a burner hub 2 of a dual fuel-burner arrangement, which is converted into a resonator 15.
